Welcome

Don’t know how you found us, but glad you’re here.  Judith will be writing posts about our most recent journey.  David heads to Ethiopia on May 2 to adopt two more boys.  They will return to the States on May 9.  More should be coming to this site over the next several weeks.  We’ll put links and list other resources that have been so beneficial to us over the years.  We’ll have pictures and videos as well.  And hopefully, we’ll even have ways you can join in the process of adoption.

We hope you can use this site.  We hope you can pass it along to others who are interested in the story of adoption.  Some are interested in adopting.  Some are interested in helping others to adopt.  Some are interested in helping those already adopted to grow, develop, etc.  Some are interested in others things associated with caring for orphans.  Maybe you just want to hear more about how all of this happens.  We don’t have a whole lot yet but what we do have is our story.  We hope it gives you a perspective of adoptive parents, birth parents, adoption workers and agencies, and soon we’ll give you the perspective of the orphans themselves.

One more thing.  We’d love to hear your stories too.  We NEVER grow tired of hearing how families come to be.  So post them here.  (We are technologically challenged but we think that can happen.)  Blessings to all who visit here.

David, Judith, Dawson, Smyth, Davis, Emerson (and soon to be Sawyer and Wyatt) McNeely

Judith… Words cannot express how much this moves me. I have been sitting here crying as I read your boy’s stories, as well as yours. You have been so blessed with not only so many children, but with what is very obvious a great man, husband, and father, but afterall, a bright, beautiful and loving girl like you should have that, so it comes as no suprise. Thank you for blessing me today with your story. I look forward to coming back and reading the progress. So glad that you and David are sharing your story in yet another way. God is so good.

David & Judith thank you you for sharing your story it is a beautiful reminder of how God “knits” our families together. I am encouraged by your obedience and patience with the Lord as I know your journey was not an easy one. Yet, God in His goodness has given you and your boys an amazing story of His faithfulness. As we too parent across racial lines it is an encouragement and reminder to us in our own journey that we can still parent “well” no matter what the statistics say. May our children always know first who they are in Jesus and may they have a firm foundation in the families whose names they bear. Love to you both and all your boys (and congrats on the McNugget).

OMGoodness. Wow. I have completely and totally BAWLED my eyes out…and I KNOW these stories already. Just reading it again and even hearing it from your mouths bring such delight in the Lord for me. Thank you for putting this together. Don’t know if I’ve ever shared, but the sermon in which David preached several years back in which he shared the journey up until the twins (I might call McBabies Part 1) David entitled it Inadequacy. Anyway, I can’t even count how many people I have passed that CD onto. God used that story and sermon in my life in more ways than we’ll ever know. I’m considering this all Part 2, even though I know that’s not entirely accurate.

Wow, the many things God has done in you and through you for His eternal glory and for all of us here waiting.

Thank you so much.

I have really enjoyed reading your story. I didn’t know all the details of what you both went through. I sat here with water filled eyes and feel so close to you both. I really needed to read this at this moment in my life. In some ways you made things clearer in my life and I am grateful for that. Family is what it is all about and what you said about the need to belong is powerful. I love you both and I am so happy that you guys have been so blessed.

Dear David and Judith,
I am so happy for you both. As you know, adoption is close to my heart and I think it is the most wonderful plan God ever created! This website is fabulous. I’ve read every bit of it and as someone wrote above, I already knew much of each story, but cried like it was all new news. Betty also told me of your even more exciting news back when you all were in Montgomery for Maggie’s baptism. She knew I could keep a secret! (and I did!) Congratulations to you both. I hope your pregnancy goes well and without any complications and maybe, just maybe, God will give you a girl in that crazy house full of boys! I will look forward to with great anticipation to hear about your two newest McNeely boys. What a blessing they will be to you and you to them. Take care and know I think of you often….I pray for you that the blessings just keep on flowing!
Love to you all,
Jenny

Thank you, thank you for such a poignant, well-written, lovely tribute to adoption – reminders of our adoption by God into His family in the greatest sacrifice of all. I would be honored to hold these young men (and the new little one!) up in prayer. As God directs your ongoing journey, please consider looking at The Shepherd’s Crook organization at http://www.theshepherdscrook.org.

blessings in our Lord and Savior,
Heather

Hey David and Judith! You may remember me from the old days at Perimeter. I just found this site via Amberly Deavours. I knew you guys had adopted and it was amazing to read the stories of how each of your children joined your family. Adoption is very near and dear to my heart as we adopted our oldest son from Ukraine 3 years ago. You truly have a beautiful family!

God has written such a beautiful story for your family and His glory is so evident in the joys and the sorrows. Amberly also told me about your recent loss and just know that I am grieving deeply with you (I have also had a pregnancy loss after infertility). God’s ways are so hard to understand sometimes, and yet I am trusting in our Father along with you that He is good even in the seemingly chaotic things that happen in our lives.

Praying for you-
Rachel
